Citizens Academy & Citizens Academy East
Welcome! Citizens Academy was founded in 1999 by Perry White in Cleveland, Ohio. Since then, it has become one of the top-performing elementary schools in Cleveland (and in the entire state of Ohio!).
Due to high demand and community interest, we opened our second campus in 2011, Citizens Academy East. Together, our schools have developed a national reputation for their commitment to academic excellence and responsible citizenship. Our remarkable faculty and staff, board, parents, families, community members, and students work hard every day to make Citizens Academy and Citizens Academy East among the best places in Cleveland to learn and grow as young students and citizens.
In 2011, Citizens Academy earned one of the nation’s top honors: it was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education. This prestigious honor awards schools with exemplary student outcomes in both suburban and urban schools. For the 2012-2013 school year, CA was recently named a High Performing School of Honor and a High Progress School of Honor. Through Ohio’s new Schools Of Honor program, the Ohio Department of Education has recognized 90 schools that have sustained high academic achievement and has made substantial gains. Our top-performing elementary schools are FREE, public, and open to all students and families. However, we do have limited space in all our grades.
